Cubs Catch Fire As The Playoff Push Begins

The Chicago Cubs are 58-54 on the season, but after winning 7 of their last 10, the Cubs are cooking. The Cubbies have absolutely exploded from the plate, scoring 55 runs in their last 6 games, which equates to 9.17 runs per game! Chicago scored 36 runs in just 2-games against the Reds last week, and are coming off back-to-back wins over the league leading Atlanta Braves. Chicago now has the 3rd-best run differential in the NL at +75, and will look to stay hot against a fumbling Mets team. 

New York is 50-61 on the year, putting them in 12th place in the NL. The Mets are 7.5 games behind the Cubs after winning just 3 of their last 10 games, and enter this series on a 6-game losing streak. The Mets scored 36 fewer runs than the Cubs over their last 10 games, and while Chicago has blossomed into a postseason hopeful, the Mets have faded into obscurity. Based on each team’s current form, I like the Cubs here.
