HOUSTON (AP) Cristian Javier threw six shutout innings, Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer and the Houston Astros swept the Oakland Athletics with a 6-3 win on Sunday. Bregman’s 16th homer against Cole Irvin (6-10) was his second straight day with a two-run shot in the first. He also hit an RBI double in the seventh. Jose Altuve doubled home two runs in the second as the AL West leaders built a big early lead in their fourth consecutive victory. 

 

The White Sox are coming off some good baseball for themselves if they have 13 games in a row which has firmly put them within the wildcard spot. Their relationship with the playoffs has been very on and off. Chicago wins three in a row, then loses 7 of 10, and then wins three more in a row. This has them jumping up and down the wild card standing, which they had recently fallen down. Now, with a win tonight, they will be just one game out. It will be a hard one as they will be going up against Jose Urquidy (11-4). In his last game he recorded the victory Tuesday over Texas despite allowing five runs on five hits, two walks and two hit batsmen while striking out three in five innings.
