Ok, let’s get to our Oakland vs Texas prediction.

Can They take that next Step?

The Texas Rangers have a golden opportunity in front of them. They currently have won two straight games, both against the Minnesota Twins, A team winning their division, And now we’ll take on the Oakland A’s in a three game series. This is a golden opportunity to make their two game winning streak now a five game winning streak at a crucial point in the season. Sitting in 3rd place in the American League West Division with a record of 39-43, the Rangers are hovering at mediocrity, and a five game winning streak can definitely put them over that threshold.

The pitching matchup in this game is not one to mark down to watch, which is fitting for two teams who rank in the bottom 10 teams in the league in Team ERA. James Kaprielian, the starting pitcher for the Oakland A’s, and Glenn Otto, the starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers, both have ERA’s north of 5.00, and neither one has a winning record. However, both these pictures are coming off quality starts. In Glen Otto’s last start, back on the 6th against the Orioles, he pitched 5 innings and only allowed three hits and one run. Similarly, in James Kaprielian’s last start on the same day, the sixth of this month against the Toronto Blue Jays, he pitched 6 innings and only allowed one run on five hits.

Neither the Oakland A’s nor the Texas Rangers are particularly good hitting teams, as the A’s rank 30th in team batting average, and the Rangers rank 18th. So this is a good matchup for two pitchers who are struggling on the year but are coming off good outings.

For our expert Oakland Athletics versus Texas Rangers prediction, take the under of 8.5 runs.
