Can Cubs Stop Their Losing Streak? 

Tonight as the New York Mets are set to take on the Chicago Cubs it is hard to know which team needs this win more. Is it the obvious choice of the Chicago Cubs have been struggling this year at a record of 34 wins and 55 losses and are currently on a seven-game losing streak? Or is it the visiting New York Mets who started off the season extremely hot being on par with their New York counterparts in the Yankees,  and being deemed the biggest surprise of the season. But now after a less than ideal last month of baseball the Mets find themselves still in first place of the National League East Division but a mere two games ahead of the Atlanta Braves who have been hot throughout the stretch that the cats have been cold. The reigning Champion Atlanta Braves we all know started off the season abysmally, but the fact that they are only two games behind the Mets now when at one point the men had an 11-game lead over everyone else in their division is very impressive and very concerning for New York. 

So now that we know why both teams need tonight’s win and will be giving it their all for it, we could focus on who will actually get the win. The Mets and the Cubs have met eight times this decade and the series is dead even at four wins a piece. In those eight games the Mets are averaging 3.8 runs scored, and the Cubs are averaging 4.0. This year these teams have only met up once and it was a win for the Mets handily by a final score of 8-0. Expect tonight’s ending score to show a win for the Mets but not as handedly as 8-0.
