Braves Top Standings as First Team to Hit 80-Wins
The Atlanta Braves continues to rack up the victories, and on Saturday, August 19th Atlanta became the first team to hit the 80-win mark this season. At 80-43, the Braves are the best team in the MLB. They lead the NL East by 13.5 games, the National League by 4.0 games, and the MLB by 3.5 games. The Braves won 8 of their last 10 and enter Tuesday night’s matchup as the out-and-out favorites. Atlanta is 41-21 (win-rate: 66.13%) as favorites at home this season.
Atlanta’s NL West rivals, the New York Mets, have not found much success this year. With a 58-67 record, the Mets are 4th in the division, 11th in the National League, and 22nd in the MLB. New York is 23.0 games behind the Braves, posting a 2-8 record against Atlanta on the year, averaging 4.2 runs scored, but allowing 8.2 runs against when playing the Braves.
I like Atlanta in this one. The Braves are undefeated at home against the Mets this season, and surpass New York in nearly every possible statistical metric. The Braves are 7-3 ATS versus the Mets, and on Tuesday, Atlanta will once again win by at least 2 runs.
So for our Mets vs. Braves expert pick, take the Atlanta Braves Runline (-1.5) at -110 for Tuesday.
