The Boston Red Sox have looked like a completely different team in the month of June, and they’re playing their best baseball of the entire season, but they have to keep it up if they want to make the playoffs. Yes, we still have a couple months of games left to play and we haven’t reached All Star break, but it’s around that time that you have to start understanding where you are in the standings as a team. The Red Sox entered June and one on an 8 game winning streak, before it was finally snapped by the Los Angeles Angels. The streak brought them all the way into the last Wild Card spot. At that point, the Angels had been on a 13 game losing streak, and it seemed like Boston losing to them might send them back into the bad play they had fallen into in the beginning of the season, but they were quickly able to rebound going on a two game winning streak. 

Tonight, the Red Sox will face quite possibly their hardest competition they faced in the month of June, and will really dictate how the rest of their month will go. The Cardinals are a more than formidable opponent that is first in their division, but the Sox are getting them at a good time. They are coming off a rough let down game against the Pirates, and have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games. While that can be worse, it is not as good as a team in first place of their division should hope for, and was coming off a 10 game span where they went 7-3. In a phrase I never thought I’d say, expect the Red Sox to rise to the occasion and win.
