Now the books want you to expect that tonight’s game will go differently as both starting pitchers have winning records and ERA of around 4.00. But what you have to look into and what the books don’t want you to know is that Paul Blackburn has played the Texas Rangers three times in his career and has a record of 0-1, with an ERA of 12.91 and only 10 strikeouts. Those three games all came as a member of the same Oakland Athletics. Although he’s been having a good season with an ERA of 3.36, the Texas Rangers are the same Rangers he’s faced in the past that have a good team batting average and good total team hits. Expect Blackburn to struggle.
