The questions abound as the San Francisco Giants play the second of their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. One of them, of course, is – when are the Giants going to end their losing streak? It is now up to four games, and the commanding lead they had in the National League West isn’t so commanding anymore, as it is down to 4.5 games. Another question is how much they can get out of Matt Cain, who has been on the DL since June 13 with hamstring issues. The idea that somebody had to get injured for him to get a ticket to the All-Star Game – at Petco Park no less – was almost a travesty.

If Cain can show some of the form he did in three May starts, where he yielded just four runs and 19 hits in 21 innings, San Francisco would be in a lot better shape.
