The Masters is the biggest event on the golfing calendar. The tournament is one of the four men’s major golf championships (Masters, PGA, U.S. Open, & The Open) but the Masters is often hailed as the biggest and most prestigious tournament on the PGA tour. It is the first stop on the tour, and unlike the other majors, the Masters is always held at the same location, the illustrious Augusta National Golf Course. It’s one of the most unique courses in the world, yet also one of the most pristine, featuring towering pines, blooming azaleas, and undulating greens. It’s a privilege to play at Augusta, and as the first stop in the tour, the Masters never disappoints to kick off the PGA with a bang.
The Favorites in the Field
Winning the Masters is every professional golfer’s dream. Adorning the green jacket is an honor unlike any other victory in sport. It not only does it place the winner amongst the legends that came before, golfers like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods, but also guarantees the champion lifelong entry into the tournament. Last year’s champion was Jon Rahm, but this year’s favorite is Scottie Scheffler (+375), the number one ranked golfer in the world according to the PGA’s official rankings. Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite to win his second green jacket (he won his first Masters in 2022), but the field is loaded with talent.
Here the favorites, along with their corresponding odds, to win the 2024 Masters:

The Masters: Predictions & Bold Picks
Scottie Scheffler is No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, so naturally he is the favorite to win the Masters (odds: 13-4). Scheffler hasn’t finished lower than second in his last three starts and hasn’t finished outside the top-20 this year. His worst finish in 2024 is a tie for 17th at the American Express tournament back in January, but he’s coming off a win in The Players Championship, and a 2nd-place finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open on March 31st. Scheffler is the best second-shot golfer on tour and he is excellent around the greens. Putting is not his strong suit, but after switching to a mallet style putter, Scheffler short game has noticeably improved.
Safest Pick (Winner): Scottie Scheffler (+375)
Tied with the second-best odds to win is reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm (+1100) and PGA veteran Rory McIlroy (+1100). Rahm is looking to repeat as Masters champion, and while his odds are decent as the 3rd-ranked golfer in the world, winning back-to-back Masters is extremely rare. Only three golfers in the 90-year history of the tournament (1934-2024) have won consecutive Masters (Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, & Tiger Woods) so I’m staying away from Rahm. McIlroy on the other hand has never won a green jacket despite being one of the most consistent golfers on the tour. Rory is currently ranked No. 2 in the world, and at his 16th career Masters Tournament, he has a good chance to finally win the only major that has eluded him.
Good Pick (Winner): Rory McIlroy (+1100)
Golf is notoriously difficult to predict, as the leaderboard can change in the blink of an eye, but that means there are huge payouts available for those willing to make bold predictions. One of the golfers that has many experts excited is 27-year old Will Zalatoris. He’s coming off a back surgery, but Zalatoris is showing great promise after a three-game stretch of T13, T2, and T4 earlier this year. People are sleeping on him because of his MC at The Players and T74 in Houston, but when Zalatoris is on he’s amongst the best in the field. He’s never won a major, but he’s been runner-up 3 times, and this year in Augusta Will Zalatoris could be the breakout golfer of the year.
Bold Pick (Winner): Will Zalatoris (+2500)
