The Boilermakers Are Feeling The Heat
The Purdue Boilermakers are not having a great season. At 2-5 overall, they are unranked and will likely miss out on a chance at a bowl game. Purdue faces the 4-3 Nebraska Cornhuskers this weekend. The Boilers are the underdogs in this one, as the Cornhuskers are 3-1 at home, but Purdue is 4-1 against Nebraska since 2018.
Nebraska is dealing with several key injuries, but will look to keep pace with the struggling Boilermakers. Purdue is coming off back-to-back losses, and the Boilers inability to run the ball has been an issue all season. Nebraska is averaging just 18.7 points per game, but in their last 2 matchups the Cornhuskers defense only gave up a single touchdown.
For this matchup, I like Nebraska. Purdue has shown signs of life, but they’ve been inconsistent and turnover prone. Like I said, Purdue’s ground game hasn’t been great, and this is a troublesome matchup for the Boilers. The Cornhuskers run defense ranks 2nd in the Big Ten, with 78.4 yards allowed and 2.6 YPC. It will be on Purdue QB Hudson Card to carry the Boilers to victory, but I don’t see that working out, since Card has a 47.6 QBR and a 7:5 touchdown:interception ratio this season.
So for our Purdue vs. Nebraska expert pick, take Nebraska’s Moneyline (-140) on Saturday
