Thursday night’s college football featured matchup on ESPN features a big showdown in the AAC between the Temple Owls and the No. 10 Central Florida Owls in slated 7:30 p.m. kickoff from Spectrum Stadium in Orlando.
Temple at Central Florida Game Overview
Temple comes off its bye week with five straight-up wins in its last six games following a 0-2 start. The Owls failed to cover in those first two losses as home favorites, but they have gone a perfect 6-0 against the spread in their last six games. They are 2-1 SU on the road this season with a 3-0 record ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in three of their last five games.
One of the big question marks for Thursday night is the health of Owls’ running back Ryquell Armstead, who missed his last two starts with a bad ankle. He has anchored the running game this season with 626 yards rushing and six touchdown runs, but Jager Gardner has played well in his absence.
Anthony Russo threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns in Temple’s 24-17 over Cincinnati in the team’s last outing before the bye.
Following a perfect 13-0 SU run through the 2017 season, the Knights have extended that winning streak to 20 games with this year’s perfect 7-0 SU start. They are also coming off a bye at 5-2 ATS with the total staying UNDER in five of those seven games. UCF has covered in three of its first four home games this season with the total staying UNDER in three of those contests.
UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton is also nursing a bad ankle heading into Thursday’s game. He has been a big part of this year’s success with 1,797 yards passing and 16 touchdown throws. Darriel Mack Jr. has taken a few snaps under center this season as his probable replacement. If Milton cannot go, the Knights can turn to a ground game that boasts four other players with at least 200 yards rushing on the year, including Mack.

Injury concerns on each team could have an impact on the final betting line for this game, but I am going to stick with Temple keeping things close enough to cover with the opening 11.5-point spread.
