The Missouri Tigers finished last season with a record of 6-7 and were the fourth seed in the SEC East. They had a conference record of 3-5 and ended their season on a two-game losing streak with their final game against the Army Black Knights in the Armed Forces Bowl. Last season, quarterback, Connor Bazelak, led the Tigers in passing yards as he threw for 2,548 yards, while also throwing for 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Bazelak left the Tigers during the transfer portal and now Brady Cook will take place under center for the Tigers. The Tigers found success last season rushing the ball. They rushed for 2,342 yards and had 22 rushing touchdowns. They averaged 180 rushing yards per game and averaged 5 rushing yards per attempt. Last season, running back, Tyler Badie, led the Tigers in rushing yards and it wasn’t even close. He rushed for 1,604 yards and had 14 touchdowns. He was the guy for Missouri last season. Unfortunately, Badie declared for the NFL draft and is no longer a Tiger so the running back will be played by a committee. Heading into this game expect the Tigers to run a lot of rushing plays in hopes of figuring out which running back will get the starting position while making Cook comfortable as the starting quarterback.
The Lousiana Tech Bulldogs finished last season with a disappointing record of 3-9 and were the last seed in the Conference USA – West. The Bulldogs had a conference record of 2-6 and had a point differential of 72 points. Last season, quarterback Austin Kendall led the team in passing yards with 1,884 while throwing for 13 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. The Bulldogs decided to move on from Kendall and acquired Matthew Downing from TCU via the transfer portal. Downing hasn’t had much playing time with his former team but will be sure to take full advantage of a Bulldogs team that is in need of a new quarterback.
In this game, the Tigers will dominate. The odds have the Tigers as massive favorites and there isn’t a reason why they shouldn’t. Sure the Bulldogs have a new quarterback but he has a career total of 28 pass completions on 44 attempts. He’s a junior. The Tigers should have an easy time in this game as this game will be a warm-up for them for what the rest of their season has in stock for them. Playing in the SEC is very hard and they need to figure out any question marks they have going into the season ASAP.
For our, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs Missouri Tigers prediction, take the over on the 60.5 total points scored in the game.
