Huge Matchup in the Pac-12
No. 8 Oregon will take on No.13 Utah this weekend in a huge Pac-12 showdown. Both Oregon and Utah are 6-1 overall, and 3-1 in conference play. Utah is coming off a massive road win over No. 18 USC, beating the Trojans 34-32. Oregon narrowly lost to Washington two weeks ago, but took care of Washington State, beating the Cougars 38-24. The Ducks lead the series 24-12 over Utah all-time, but this year may be the most evenly matched these two programs have ever been.
It’s destined to be a great game, but I’m going with the favored Oregon Ducks. Oregon averages 47.0 points per game, while Utah averages 23.4 points per game. The Utes have a great defense, and are coming off back-to-back 34 point games, but the Oregon offense is downright explosive, and no one has been able to keep the Ducks out of the endzone.
Oregon has 30+ points in every game this season, and their Hiesmen hopeful QB Bo Nix is having the best season of his college career. Conversely, Utah’s star QB Cameron Rising is out for the rest of the season, a devastating loss for the Utes. Utah LB Lander Barton and TE Brant Kuithe are also out for the season, three major injuries for the Utes. Even with a healthy roster, the Ducks would be tough to beat, but because of the injuries, Oregon will roll over Utah.
So for our (8)Oregon vs. (13)Utah expert pick, take the Oregon Ducks to Cover (-6.5) on Saturday
