Georgia Faces TCU In Historic National Championship Game | Georgia vs TCU | OSB
TCU Horned Frogs vs. Georgia Bulldogs
By Sam Batz
The College Football Championship is finally upon us. 84 teams have competed in 42 bowl games from Dec. 16th to Jan. 2nd. Now, only two teams remain for the final game of the college football season. The TCU Horned Frogs will take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday, Jan. 9 in SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to decide who is the best team in college football.
Georgia is undefeated this season with a 14-0 record. The Bulldogs are the top-ranked team in the country and the clear favorites to win the National Championship. It would be Georgia’s second National Championship title in the modern era and is their third appearance in the last five years. The Bulldogs have a chance to become the first college football team in history to win back-to-back National Championship titles. They beat Alabama 33-18 last season, and now hone in on the TCU Horned Frogs as their next victims.
Texas Christian University, or TCU, has never competed for the College Football National Championship in the modern era. The last time they won a National Championship was in 1938, when QB Davey O’Brien led the Horned Frogs to an 11-0 season. Now, 85 years later, TCU will look to repeat O’Brien’s achievement, and become the smallest school in history to win the College Football National Championship.

Prediction
TCU is the biggest underdog in National Championship game history. They entered the season with zero top-25 votes and were projected to finish seventh in the Big-12. Regardless, TCU has been proving everyone wrong all season. They have already completed the most improbable win in the College Football Playoffs after beating No. 2 ranked Michigan 51-45 in the Fiesta Bowl. TCU entered that game +8 point underdogs but, as they’ve done all year, pulled off an unlikely victory.
This TCU football team is arguably the most underrated squad in college football history. However, they face the Georgia Bulldogs, one of the most dominant sides in college football over the last decade. Georgia is heavily favored in this one and for good reason. The Bulldogs are electrifying on offense and unrelenting on defense. They looked unbeatable all season, averaging a margin of victory of +23.9 over their opponents. Georgia rolled over every opponent they faced this season. However, in the Peach Bowl, the Bulldogs showed some vulnerability, only beating Ohio State by one point (42-41).
TCU is averaging 41.2 points per game. Georgia is averaging 38.9. If their previous CFP games taught us anything, it’s that these teams can put up points. The National Championship will be a high-scoring back-and-forth affair. TCU plays a unique style of defense, utilizing five defensive backs and typically only rushing with three, but with Georgia’s talented Tightends, TCU will struggle to slow the Bulldog offense down. Georgia has one of the best defenses in the country featuring arguably the best defensive-front in college football. Nevertheless, TCU’s offense, led by QB Max Duggan and WR Quentin Johnston, proved last week they can put up huge numbers.
Georgia is the favorite and are undefeated on the season as the favorite. TCU is the Cinderella of college football this year and will look to overcome the biggest spread in National Championship history. While the game will be much closer than many are predicting, I do believe Georgia will take home the victory. They are too talented and have the experience to understand how to win in big games. Georgia will become the first back-to-back College Football Playoff National Champion.
Prediction: Georgia Bulldogs Moneyline and the Over OR TCU Horned Frogs Cover and the Over. Final Score: Georgia 42- TCU 35
