College football has been turned on its head with a number of the top teams losing in the past couple of weekends. There is a huge bubble now for the College Football Playoff, with many teams fighting to get in.
Two teams on that bubble come from the Southeastern Conference’s East Division. They will be taking on one another in one of the most important games of the year, as No. 8 Georgia takes a trip down to square off against No. 6 Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
We will preview the game here for you and help you determine the best bets for the contest.
Georgia vs. Florida Game Overview
Let’s be honest, when Georgia fell short against South Carolina three weeks ago, we all thought it was the end of its season. But how much can change in three weeks?
We once thought one-loss teams may not have a chance this year with how good the top four or five teams have been carrying themselves all season long.
That has changed completely, and now this game is absolutely a must-win game for either team. Georgia will be hungry to retain its title in the SEC East.
The winner of this game will likely get a chance at the SEC Championship Game, and the winner of that contest will be all but guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Both of these defenses have been swallowing their opponents, and Georgia specifically is coming off of pitching a shutout against Kentucky.
The offenses for both of these teams are similar in that they rely on their rushing attack first and their passing second. Florida has a much stronger passing game overall, but Jake Fromm is battle-tested from recent years and will never back down to any opponent.
Although Florida won’t have the true home-field advantage in this game since it will be played as always in Jacksonville, the Gators will at least have the home-state advantage.
Our friends at BetAnySports have the Bulldogs favored in this game at -4.5. This spread surprised me, as Florida has the higher rank and the better of the two losses between these teams.
It is hard to trust the Gators, though, as they have not been on top of the SEC East in quite some time. Georgia usually finds a way to win these games, but this will be a tough one.
Georgia vs. Florida Free Game Prediction
I really like Florida in this game as the underdog. I think the spread is three points too high, and I believe the Gators will come out and take the SEC East this year and score a trip to the title game.
