COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING – PAC 12 TITLE: WASHINGTON HUSKIES VS. COLORADO BUFFALOES

The Washington Huskies have a golden opportunity to show what they can really do from this point forward. They can win the Pac 12 Championship against the Colorado Buffaloes, and then if they do that, they might be able to move on and compete for the national title. The conference title game is slated for Friday night at 9 PM ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara (where the last Super Bowl was played), and BetAnySports customers will have a chance to place wagers, even after the opening kickoff, when they access Live Betting Ultra.

Washington, which is 11-1 straight-up and 6-6 against the football pointspread, is currently #4 in the Playoff Rankings, as well as both major polls. So if they win this game, they can make more than a reasonable case that they belong among the “Final Four” playing it off for national laurels. Of course, anything can happen. Colorado (10-2, both straight-up and against the number) believes that with a win, they could have a shot to get into the playoff festivities. They are 8th in the Playoff Rankings and #9 in both polls.

The Buffs’ story has been rather unbelievable, when you consider how quickly they have risen. They were 4-9 last year, but after bringing back nine starters on both offense and defense, they turned things completely around under Mike MacIntyre, who did it even more quickly when he was at San Jose State.

In the college football betting odds posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Huskies are favored:

Washington Huskies -7.5
Colorado Buffaloes +7.5

Over 56 points -110
Under 56 points -110

Washington feels it has a genuine Heisman Trophy candidate in Jake Browning (40 TD’s, 7 INT’s), who is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency. His best target may be John Ross, a super-competitive type who has caught 72 passes for 1071 yards. And you can’t overplay these guys, because they have balance on the ground; Myles Gaskin and Lavon Coleman have combined for 1915 yards on the ground.

U-Dub, which is priced at +1300 to win the national title, according to the futures posted at BetAnySports, will be missing perhaps its most furious pass-rusher, as Joe Mathis, who got a great deal of pressure on opposing passers as a hybrid defensive end/linebacker, is out with an injury.

Seth Luifau, Colorado’s quarterback, does not set the world on fire with his passing numbers (just eleven TD passes, for example), but he is a leader, and this team suffers without him. Before anybody really discovered how good the Buffs were, they were head of Michigan 28-24 when he had to leave the game with a high ankle sprain. The Wolverines went on to score 21 unanswered points. And when Liufau had to give way for the USC game, Colorado suffered its other loss.

MacIntyre’s defense has the ability to give Browning a hard time. They are 13th overall in defense, and fourth in the nation in passing efficiency defense. One of the guys to watch is linebacker Kenneth Olugbode, one of seven senior starters on the stop unit. Also worth pointing out, when considering that turnovers often make the difference, is that Washington is tied for the best turnover margin in the nation (+18).
