Can Alabama Get Back to the Playoffs?

The Alabama Crimson Tide are having an off year. Alabama has one loss, but their 5-1 record doesn’t tell the full story. The Tide have been in some close games that they should have won easily, and their 34-24 loss against Texas showed that Alabama is not a top-5 team this season. However, the Crimson Tide get a nice respite from top -25 opponents this week, as they face the unranked 2-4 Arkansas Razorbacks. 

The Razorbacks are 7-26 against Alabama all-time and are not expected to make it a game on Saturday. Arkansas has lost 4-straight, with their only wins of the season coming against Western Carolina and Kent State in their preconference games. In their 4 losses, the Razorbacks averaged 26 points and allowed 33.3 points, but the Razorbacks lost to BYU, LSU, and Ole Miss by just a single score. 

The point spread for this one is 19.5, and while Alabama is highly likely to win, the Crimson Tide have had some close calls this season. Alabama’s defense has been dominant, ranking 14th-best with 15.2 points allowed per game, but their offense has struggled, coming in at 55th in total points scored. Arkansas has a chance here to remain within one or two scores of Alabama.
