Tonight Cal Poly will take on Fresno State and a game that they are massive underdogs in. They are 38.5 point underdogs to be exact, and this is fitting as these two teams have met each other 47 times all time with Fresno State leading the series 33-10-2. This includes their last meeting on September 11th, 2021 where the Bulldogs defeated the Mustangs 63-10 in Fresno. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this Fresno State Bulldogs football team and this organization can’t be more excited for kickoff on Thursday night. It’s going to be a very hot season opener, however, as the kickoff temperatures are likely to be in triple digits. But last season was a scorching season opener against Uconn, but that heat didn’t prevent the Bulldogs from shutting Uconn down and holding them scoreless. 

Cal Poly is coming off a year where they went 2-9, including that 63-10 loss to this Fresno State team. The Mustangs are predicted to finish 10th in both the media and coaches Big Sky preseason poll, so for the Bulldogs this should be an easy game. The Bulldogs are a much deeper team, especially on the defensive front, and I expect them to have Cal Poly’s quarterback running the whole game. The final score won’t be an Azure lopsided score as last season 63-10, but expect there to be a significant gap and one bigger than 38.5.
