The Texas Longhorns are currently 1-0 this season after having won last week 51-10 against the UL Monroe Warhawks. Football in Texas is like burgers and fries, they were made for each other. Their stadium will be packed and will create a crazy atmosphere for this game. This will be the first time their freshman quarterback, Quinn Ewers, plays against a top-ranked team. Last week, Ewers, threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns but did have one interception and a quarterback rating of 72.4. The Longhorns will need Ewers to have a much better performance against Alabama if they want to have a chance at winning the game. The Longhorns rushed for only 134 yards and running back Brian Robinson led the team in rushing yards with 71 and one touchdown. The Longhorns however did have two touchdowns scored for them by the defense and special teams. The opening drive of the game ended in the Warhawks attempting to punt the ball but it was blocked by Texas and returned for a touchdown. Later on in the game, the Longhorns were able to intercept UL Monroe’s quarterback and return it for a touchdown. The Longhorns will need the help they received from the defense and special teams in this game if they want to upset the #1 seed. Fortunately, they will be able to feed off the energy and atmosphere the fans will create.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 1-0 on the season after steamrolling the Utah State Aggies by a final score of 55-0. Alabama is coming off a season where they were the #2 ranked team and lost the Georgia Bulldogs in the college football championship. Luckily for the Crimson Tide, they have quarterback Bryce Young. Young is an absolute beast and is coming off a great season. Last year, he won the Heisman and threw for just under 5,000 yards, and had 50 total touchdowns. Likely one of this year’s Heisman finalists, Young will be draft eligible after this season. Last week, he threw for 195 yards, rushed for 100 yards, and had 6 total touchdowns. A great first game to start the year, and defend his Heisman trophy. Alabama’s defense also had a huge game as they held the Aggies to under 140 total yards and no points scored. In this game against the Longhorns, expect the Crimson Tide to put on a show as this will be a huge game and the first time these two teams play in over 10 years.

Aside from the fact that Alabama will win this game, I think Bryce Young will have another great game. The way he analyzes the field and plays the game is at times compared to Neo in the Matrix. Alabama knows how big this game will be and how much they have to lose in this game. I expect them to get after it early and put on a show for the fans. Texas will be playing their first big game of the season and this will be the first game of this magnitude, their freshman quarterback ever plays. Expect this one to live up to the hype.
