Betanysports-College-Football-Week2

Heading into the second week of betting action in the new season of college football, most of the top teams in the nation opened their schedules with a convincing win. The one exception was No. 8 Miami (FL) taking it on the chin in a 33-17 loss to No. 25 LSU as a three-point favorite with BetAnySports. In the biggest head-to-head showdown between ranked teams, No. 9 Auburn got past No. 6 Washington 21-16 as two-point favorites.

One of the few head-to-head conference matchups on this Saturday’s slate is No. 3 Georgia opening its 2018 SEC schedule on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks in a 3:30 p.m. start on CBS. The Bulldogs have been opened as 9.5-point favorites after shutting out Austin Peay 45-0 in last Saturday’s opener. Georgia was two points shy of covering the spread in that game as a 46-point home favorite. South Carolina opened its season with a 49-15 victory against Coastal Carolina as a 31-point favorite at home.

The total line for this Saturday’s SEC clash has been set at 51 and it has stayed UNDER in nine of the last 11 meetings in Columbia. The Gamecocks have a 7-3-1 edge against the spread in the last 10 meetings overall.

No. 5 Ohio State opens play in the Big Ten at home against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on the Big Ten Network from Ohio Stadium. BetAnySports has opened the Buckeyes as heavy 35-point favorites with the total set at 59 points. Ohio State ran past Oregon State 77-31 in Week 1 as a 40-point favorite at home.

There is only one head-to-head matchup on the Week 2 schedule between teams that started the season in the AP Top 25 and it happens to be in the Pac-12. The USC Trojans were ranked No. 15 in the preseason poll and they opened their season with a 43-21 victory against UNLV as 24.5-point home favorites. In an 8:30 p.m. start on FOX, they will open their conference schedule as 3.5-point road underdogs against the No. 13 Stanford Cardinal. BetAnySports has set the total for that game at 54 points. Stanford beat San Diego State 31-10 last Friday night to cover as a 13.5-point home favorite.

The Cardinal have a 4-1 edge ATS in the last five meetings and the total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five home games against USC.
