A trip to the Sweet 16 is on the line as the No.6 seed USC Troyans (23-7 SU, 17-13 ATS) are taking on the No.3 seed Kansas Jayhawks (21-8 SU, 14-13-1 ATS) in another Power Five heavyweight tilt. Kansas earned a 93-84 win over Eastern Washington in its most recent game, while Southern California won 72-56 against Drake in its last outing.

Let’s get back to the USC vs. Kansas NCAAM basketball spread and predictions courtesy of Betonline, where the Troyans are slight 1-point favorites with a total of 134.5.

The USC Troyans had no problems with the 11th-seeded Drake Bulldogs in the first round, beating them 72-56 to cover the spread easily as seven-point favorites on Saturday. Evan Mobley leading three starters who scored in double figures with 17 points while adding a game-high 11 rebounds. The do-everything Mobley is averaging 16.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and three blocks to lead the way for Southern Carolina. The Troyans have held opposing teams to 39 percent shooting from the field this year, the eighth-lowest percentage among all Division I teams.

The Kansas Jayhawks looked like a team ripe for an upset in the first half, trailing 46-38 against the 14th-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles before the intermission. However, the Jayhawks head coach Bill Self was able to rally his players during the break, and they responded by outscoring the Eagles 55-38 in the final 20 minutes. However, they did not end up covering the spread as 10-point favorites in a 93-84 victory. Kansas welcomed David McCormack back from a bout with COVID-19 on Saturday, and he responded with a team-high 22 points off the bench. Ochai Agbaji with 21 points and Marcus Garrett, who scored 20, also came up big for the Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks are still without Jalen Wilson and Tristan Enaruna because of COVID-19. That lack of depth could be a problem, especially in trying to defend one of the top NBA prospects in Evan Mobley. Therefore, I’ll take the Troyans to pass to a Sweet 16 in this one.
