Iowa State will be taking on Texas in this one. Texas is currently tied for the top seed in the Big 12. They sit at 10-4 in the conference and are tied with the Jayhawks. They are coming off of a grueling overtime win over their rivals in Texas Tech that they ultimately pulled out 85-83 at home. This was a nice revenge win as Texas had just lost to Texas Tech the game before 74-67. Sir’Jabari Rice led Texas in this win as he poured in 24 points. Texas needs to continue winning in the Big 12 if they want to keep pace with Kansas. The Longhorns are 21-6 overall which is largely due to their almost perfect 15-1 record at home this season. They are just 4-4 on the road. They have struggled recently by their standards only winning two of their last four games. 

Iowa State is ranked 23rd right now but they are in danger of dropping out of the top 25 after dropping their last game to Kansas State on the road 61-55. Iowa State was up eight points at the half but allowed KState to comeback in the second half. This may have been due to the fact that they were missing Caleb Grill, who is averaging 10 points a game this season. Iowa State has now lost three of their last four games. They have also struggled heavily on the road as the loss to Kansas State dropped them to a woeful 2-7 this season when away from home. They are looking for a bounce back in this one. 

I like Texas to cover in this game. If we look back over the season you will actually see that one of the Longhorns’ six losses was to this Iowa State team in Ames, Iowa. That was more than a month ago though and Iowa State will be on the road in Austin here. Iowa State has been horrible on the road this season with a 2-7 record and has lost three of their last four games. They just aren’t on the same tier as Texas here. Home court advantage is a huge aspect of college basketball and I can easily see a 20 point swing here from their first game. Iowa State is just 3-6 ATS as a road team this season. Iowa State hasn’t covered in seven of their last nine games while Texas is 4-4 ATS in their last eight games. Texas is not only the better team but they get a huge advantage in being at home here. I think Iowa State gets blown out in this one.
