The Cincinnati Bearcats will travel to the UCCU Center to take on the Utah Valley Wolverines in the quarterfinal game of the NIT (9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2). The Bearcats will look to keep their run alive as they easily cruised past the Hofstra Pride 79-65 in the second round. In the NIT so far Cincinnati has looked great. They have found their stride, now winning four of their last five games. They have a tough test though against this frisky Utah Valley team. Meanwhile, the Wolverines defeated the Coloroado Buffaloes 81-69 in the second round of the tourament. Vanderbilt has also won four of their last five games. Now, they will host a scary Cincinnati team.

Cincinnati Basketball: Bearcats suffer multiple losses to the transfer portal

With a 23-12 record on the season and a 11-7 record in conference play, the Bearcats secured the fourth seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament. Cincinatti won their first game against the Temple Owls. In the semifinal game though, the Bearcats struggled against the Houston Cougars losing 69-48. Cincinatti has bounced back from that loss dominating their first two games in the NIT. In the first round they defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 81-72. Then in the second round they took care of Hofstra. This is where it gets tough for the Bearcats now because they have to travel to Utah Valley. The Bearcats though have struggled on the road as they are 5-6 as the away team this season.

The Bearcats have gotten production from a lot of their players this season. They have three players that are averaging double-digit points this season. Senior guard Landers Nolley II has been leading Bearcats this year, as he leads the team in points. Nolley II is averaging 16.7 points a game this season. Senior guard David DeJulius is averaging 14.7 pointsand 5.4 assists (Which leads the team) a game this season. Do not forget about sophomore forward Viktor Lakhin who is averaging 11.7 points and 7.0 rebounds (Which leads the team) a game this season.

In their win against Hofstra in the second round, Nolley II led the way finishing with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Lakhin also, had a dominant game finishing with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Junior forward Ody Oguama did it on offense and on the glass finishing with a double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. In the win, the Bearcats shot 52.6% from the floor and 28.6% from the three-point line.

Trey Woodbury Leads UVU To Win Over NAU

With a 27-8 record on the season and a 15-3 record in conference play, the Wolverines finished in first in the WAC Standings. In the tournament they were the number one seed as they won their first game against the Tarleton Texans 72-58. In the semifinal game they lost to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds 89-88. In the NIT though they have been great, defeating the New Mexico Lobos and the Colorado Buffaloes. Now they will host Cincinatti in this game. The Wolverines have been nearly perfect at home this season with a 13-1 record.

Utah Valley has gotten a lot of production from their players this season. They are led by junior guard Le’Tre Darthard as he leads the team in points. Darthard is averaging 13.9 points a game this season. Junior guard Justin Harmon has been great averaging 13.8 points a game this season. Senior guard Trey Woodbury has also been solid for the Wolverines averaging 13.6 points and 3.8 assists (Which leads the team) a game this season.

 In their win against Colorado in the second round, Woodbury led the way finishing with 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Harmon also had a great game finishing with 18 points and 7 rebounds. In the win, Utah Valley shot 55.9% from the floor and 52.9% from the three-point line.
