Grand Canyon vs. Gonzaga 

The Grand Canyon Antelopes and the Gonzaga Bulldogs will play against each other at the Ball Arena in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in the West Region (7:35 p.m. ET, TruTV). The Lopes won the championship game of the WAC Tournament against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds. Grand Canyon is playing some great basketball and it feels like they have found their stride just in time for the tournament. The Antelopes have won their last six games. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs won in the championship game of the WCC Tournament to the Saint Mary’s Gaels. The Bulldogs will look to win the NCAA Tournament as they are one of the favorites to win it. Gonzaga has won nine-straight games going into the tournament.

Grand Canyon Basketball

With an 24-11 record on the season and an 11-7 record in conference play, the Antelopes secured the fifth seed in the WAC Tournament. Grand Canyon showed out in the tournament beating UT Arlington, Seattle U, and Sam Houston before taking the crown against Southern Utah. Grand Canyon locked in their spot in the tournament as the WAC champions with the 14th seed in the West Region. Unfortunately, they must play a great Gonzaga team. Look to see if the Lopes can stun the Bulldogs and cause madness.

The Antelopes have gotten production from a lot of their players this season. They have four players that are averaging double-digit points this season. Sophomore guard Rayshon Harrison has been leading Grand Canyon this year, as he leads the team in points and assists. Harrison is averaging 17.7 points and 3.6 assists a game this season. They are also, led by their junior forward Gabe McGlothan who is averaging 12.8points and 7.7 rebounds (Which leads the team) a game this season.

In their win against Southern Utah in the WAC Tournament, Harrison and McGlothan combined for 52 points. Harrison led the way finishing with 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. McGlothan finished with 21 points. The Antelopes just could not miss in this game. In the win, they shot a remarkable 54.4% from the floor and 65.0% from the three-point line.

Gonzaga Basketball

With an 28-5 record on the season and an 14-2 record in conference play, the Bulldogs finished first in the WCC Standings. In the tournament they were the number one seed as they won their first game easily against the San Francisco Dons. In the championship game they cruised through Saint Mary’s. Now, they are the third seed in the West Region of the tournament. Look to see if they can make a run in the tournament as they have Kansas, UCLA, and UConn in their region.

Gonzaga has gotten a lot of production from their players this season. They are led by senior forward Drew Timme as he leads the team in points and rebounds. Timme is averaging 20.9 points and 7.3 rebounds a game this season. They are also led by junior guard Julian Strawther who is averaging 15.1 points a game this season.

 In their win against Saint Mary’s in the WCC Tournament, Timme led the way finishing with 18 rebounds, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Sophomore guard Nolan Hickman also had a great game finishing with 12 points. All of his points came from deep as he shot 4-5 from the three-point line. In the win, Gonzaga shot 58.0% from the floor and 57.1% from the three-point line.
