NBA BASKETBALL ODDS & PREVIEW – OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER AT GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

NBA Basketball Odds & Preview – Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors

By Charles Jay

Well, the Golden State Warriors sure made a heck of a statement the other night when they played the Cleveland Cavaliers, extracting some payback from the team that beat them in the NBA Finals and then on Christmas Day. The end result was a lopsided victory, and on Wednesday night they will encounter a familiar face as they play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder in NBA action that will begin at 10:35 PM ET at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. You know, BetAnySports customers can get reduced juice, affording them additional value against the basketball odds, and then after the game tips off, they can stay right there in the action using the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.
The Warriors scored 78 points in the first half against Cleveland, essentially ending the game right there. The final was 126-91, and it was an embarrassment for all the Cavaliers, including Lebron James, who hit just six of his 18 shots. This is a team that takes care of business on both ends of the floor; they are first in the NBA and Offensive Rating and second and Defensive Rating. But they haven’t done that well against the pointspread lately; the victory over Cleveland was only their second cover in their last eight games. Obviously customers can expect to lay a premium if they want to back Golden State. Steve Kerr’s squad is 35-6, and they lead the Western Conference.
Oklahoma City has had to adjust to the departure of Kevin Durant, who went and joined Steph Curry and the rest of the gang at Golden State. That left the ball in the hands of Russell Westbrook, and we are not sure he was all that unhappy about it. The fact that he has the highest “Usage” figure in the NBA is no accident, and he looks like he is dead set on putting the statistics together that will make in the Most Valuable Player in a crowded field. Westbrook is averaging a triple-double at the moment, and at the same time his team is winning, compiling a 25-18 record that has them in sixth place in the West.

In the NBA basketball odds posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, Golden State is laying double digits:

Golden State Warriors -13
Oklahoma City Thunder +13

Over 228 points -110
Under 228 points -110

Of course, for those Thunder players who were involved in last year’s Western Conference semi-finals, there are bitter memories. It looked like OKC had Golden State on the verge of elimination, taking a 3-1 lead in the series, but then they lost three straight, just like the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the Finals against Cleveland subsequent to that. These teams have played this season, with Golden State winning in Oakland by a 122-96 score on November 3. Westbrook was held in relative check; yes, he did have 20 points and 10 assists, but he went only 4-15 from the field with six turnovers.
Westbrook is bidding to become the first player in the NBA to average a triple-double since the 1961-62 season, when it was done by the great Oscar Robertson. Of course, when you have one player trying to assume so much of the burden, a smart defensive scheme can force him into some bad shots. That is what appeared to have happened back in November, and is no doubt one thing that Golden State will attempt to do again. Westbrook will not have one of the big men who helps him so much. Steven Adams fell hard on Sunday against Sacramento, and he is currently in the league’s concussion protocol (that’s right; the NFL is not the only league that has it). That means Draymond Green will have to have a different guy to beat up on. The Thunder is coming off a 120-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, so they all got beat up on pretty thoroughly, allowing 62 points in the paint in the process.
