New Mexico vs. San Jose State
The New Mexico Lobos will travel to the Provident Credit Union Event Center to take on the San Jose State Spartans in a Mountain West Conference matchup (10:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN). The Lobos will look to snap their four-game losing streak in this one. On Tuesday, New Mexico lost to the Wyoming Broncos 70-56. The Lobos have now lost four of their last five games. Meanwhile, the Spartans will look to add to their two-game winning streak. On Tuesday, San Jose State defeated the UNLV Rebels 75-66. The Vikings have won three out of their last five games.
With an 19-7 record on the season and an 6-7 record in conference play, the Lobos are 5.5 games back of first place in the MWC standings. New Mexico is 4-4 on the road this season. The Lobos have been led by junior guard Jamal Mashburn Jr. as he leads the team in points this season. Mashburn Jr. is averaging 19.8 points a game this season. He has also gotten help from senior guard Jaelen House who is averaging 17.3 points and 4.6 assists (Which leads the team) a game this season.
In their loss against Wyoming at home, Mashburn Jr. led the team in points finishing with 15. Senior forward Morris Udeze tried his best in the game finishing with a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 17 points. In the loss, New Mexico shot 36.8% from the floor and 31.3% from the three-point line.
Offensively, the Lobos have been great averaging 80.6 points a game on the season. Defensively, New Mexico has been allowing teams to score an average of 72.3 points a game on the season. Look to see if this high-powered offense can give the Spartans trouble in this game.
With an 16-10 record on the season and an 7-6 record in conference play, the Spartans are 4.5 game back from first place in the MWC standings. San Jose State has been great at home at home this year as they are 10-2 in the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Look to see if they can continue their dominance at home when the Lobos come to visit them.
San Jose State has not gotten production from a lot their players this season. Really only junior guard Omari Moore has led the Spartans this season as he leads the team in points and assists. Moore is averaging 17.0 points and 4.9 assists a game this season. He is getting help from sophomore guard Alvaro Cardenas who is averaging 9.8 points a game on the season.
In their win against UNLV on the road, junior forward Trey Anderson led the team in points finishing with 19. Moore was right behind him as he finished with 14 points. In the win, San Jose State shot 48.2% from the floor and 40.0% from the three-point line.
Offensively, the Spartans are averaging 68.4 points a game on the season. Defensively, San Jose State has been great only allowing teams to score an average of 66.2 points a game on the season. Look to see if this Viking’s defense can give the Lobos problems on offense.

Prediction
I love the Lobos here in this spot. There is a great chance they will get their point guard Jaelen House back from injury in this game. I think House makes a huge difference in this game and gives the edge for the Lobos over the Spartans. I also think the Lobos offense is too much for the Spartans defense. New Mexico picks up the huge win on the road against San Jose State.
Prediction: New Mexico Lobos cover the spread (+1.5).
