The Memphis Tigers will travel to the Fertitta Center to take on the Houston Cougars in an American Athletic Conference matchup (3:00 p.m. ET, ESPN). The Tigers will look to add to their three-game winning streak in this one. Memphis defeated the UCF Knights on Thursday 64-63. The Tigers have been hot as they have now won four of their last five games. Meanwhile, The Cougars will also look to add to their six-game winning streak in this game. Houston defeated the SMU Mustangs on Thursday 80-65.

With an 20-6 record on the season and an 10-3 record in conference play, the Tigers are 2 games back from first place in the AAC standings. Memphis has been shaky on the road this year as they are 5-4 as the away team. Look to see if they can fix their road problems against the Cougars.

Memphis has gotten incredible contribution from two of their players this year. Senior guard Kendric Davis has been dominant for the Tigers this year, as he leads the team in points and assists. Davis is averaging 21.3 points and 5.8 assists a game on the season. They are also, led by their senior forward DeAndre Williams who is averaging 17.3 points this season.

In their loss against UCF at home, senior guard Elijah McCadden led the Tigers as he finished with 16 points. Williams was right behind him finishing with 12 points. It was senior guard Damaria Franklin who was the hero of the game has he sunk the game-winning layup with seven seconds left. Offensively, the Tigers are averaging 80.5 points a game on the season. Defensively, Memphis has been mediocre allowing teams to score an average of 73.0 points a game on the season. Look to see if their high-powered offense can give the Cougars trouble.

With an 24-2 record on the season and an 12-1 record in conference play, the Cougars are in first place in the AAC standings. Houston has been dominant at home this year as they are 13-2 in the Fertitta Center. Look to see if they can keep up their dominant play at home against the Tigers.

The Cougars have gotten production from a lot of their players this year. Houston has been led by senior guard Marcus Sasser who leads the team in points this year. Sasser is averaging 16.5 points a game this season. He has also gotten help from freshman forward Jarace Walker who is averaging 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds a game this season.

In their win against SMU on the road, Sasser led the team finishing with 20 points and shooting 4-9 from the three-point line. Walker was right behind him finishing with 14 points. Prediction

I love Houston here at home in this spot. I think they are the more complete team. Also, Houston’s elite defense will give the Tigers problems. Their elite defense will help get the Houston crowd into the game. I think the Cougars put Memphis away early in this game. Look for Jarace Walker to have a monster game as Memphis does not have a guy to matchup with Walker.

Prediction: Houston Cougars cover the spread (-13.5).
