Butler vs. DePaul
The Butler Bulldogs will travel to Wintrust Arena to take on the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East Conference matchup (8:30 p.m. ET, FS1). The Bulldogs will look to snap their two-game losing streak in this one. On Sunday, Butler lost to the Georgetown Hoyas 68-62. The Bulldogs have now lost three of their last five games. Meanwhile, the Blue Demons will also look to snap their eight-game losing streak in this one. On Saturday, DePaul lost 82-68 against the Xavier Musketeers.
Butler Basketball
With a 13-15 record on the season and a 5-12 record in conference play Butler is at the bottom half of the Big East standings. This is partly because the Bulldogs have been terrible on the road this season as they are 2-8 as the away team.
The Bulldogs do not have that dynamic one scorer, but four players on their team are averaging double-digit points a game this season. Their main scorer has been sophomore guard Jayden Taylor, who leads the team in points averaging 13.1 a game this season. Senior center Manny Bates has also been a key piece for Butler averaging 12.0 points a game and leads the team in rebounds averaging 5.7 a game.
In their loss against Georgetown at home, Taylor did everything he possibly could to give the Bulldogs the win. He finished the game with 21 points. With Bates not playing because of a shoulder injury Butler did not have that much offense. Bates will also not play in this game. Sophomore guard Simas Lukosius helped out Taylor finishing 11 points and 4 rebounds. The Bulldogs just could not stop the guard play of Georgetown. In the loss Butler shot 41.7% from the floor and 26.9% from the three-point line.
DePaul Basketball
With a 9-18 record on the season and a 3-13 record in conference play, DePaul is in second to last place in the Big East standings. The Blue Demons have been shaky at home this year as they are 7-6 in the Wintrust Arena. Look to see if they can fix their home problems against the Bulldogs in this game.
DePaul has gotten contribution from their players this season as they have three players averaging double digit points a game this season. The Blue Demons have been led by senior guard Umoja Gibson, who leads the team in points and rebounds. Gibson is averaging 16.2 points and 4.7 assists a game this season. He has also gotten help from senior forward Javan Johnson who is averaging 14.9 points a game this season.
In their loss against Xavier on the road, Gibson led the way finishing with 17 points. Junior forward Da’Sean Nelson also had a great game off the bench scoring 16 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. The Blue Demons just could not stop Xavier offensively as all the Musketeers starters scored double digit points. In the loss DePaul shot 42.1% from the floor and 45.0% from the three-point line.

Butler vs. DePaul Prediction
I love Butler here in this spot on the road. I have no clue how DePaul is favored in this game as they are currently on an eight-game losing streak. Even without Manny Bates I still think Butler finds success on offense with Jayden Taylor. Plus, DePaul’s defense has ben awful allowing teams to score an average 76.9 points a game this season. The Bulldogs defense is just too much for the Blue Demon’s offense. I think Butler shuts down DePaul at home in a low-scoring game. Butler wins this game 69-62.
