CLEMSON VS. ALABAMA CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW AND PICK

VietBet Game Line: Alabama -6.5

VietBet Total Line: 51

In a rematch of last season’s national title game, the No. 2 Clemson Tigers will tangle with the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in this Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship. Kickoff from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay is set for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Clemson vs. Alabama Game Preview

Clemson survived quite a few close calls on its way to another ACC title this season, but it left little doubt about returning to the national title game with last Saturday’s 31-0 beatdown of Ohio State as a 1.5-point underdog in the Fiesta Bowl. The total stayed UNDER VietBet’s 57-point closing line in that game after going OVER in its previous four contests. The Tigers are 13-1 straight-up on the year, but they fall to an even 7-7 against the spread.

Heisman Trophy runner-up Deshaun Watson completed 23-of-36 passes for 259 yards and two scores in the win against the Buckeyes and the offense added another 205 yards rushing on 48 carries to the winning cause. The top performance in this game would have to go to Clemson’s defense for pitching the shutout.

It is no big surprise that Alabama is back in the title game following another perfect SU run through the regular season and two postseason contests. The Tide raised their SU record to 14-0 with a 24-7 victory against Washington in the Peach Bowl as 13-point favorites. They are now a healthy 10-4 ATS with the total staying UNDER VietBet’s closing line in five of their last seven games.

While Alabama posted just 57 yards passing against the Huskies complemented by 269 yards on the ground, it did what it had to do on offense to get the win. Former offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has moved on to his new head coaching job at Florida Atlanta, so look for more of a balance on this side of the ball come Monday night. This is another team that owes a great deal of its success this season to its defense. Alabama held the Huskies to a total of just 194 yards in last week’s win.

Clemson vs. Alabama Free Game Prediction

These two teams combined for 95 points last season in the Tide’s five-point victory as 6.5-point favorites, but I am looking for a much lower scoring game this time around. Both of the defenses should be dominant in a game that stays UNDER VietBet’s current 51-point line.
