Michigan State and Indiana will be facing off here in a game that is sure to be an emotional Big Ten battle. Michigan State has just allowed all of their students and faculty to return to classes after the mass shooting that shocked the school. Michigan State canceled one of their games but ultimately returned to action against Michigan on Saturday. They lost 84-72 as Joey Hauser’s 20 points was not nearly enough to get them over the hump. Michigan State is 16-10 on the season and 8-7 in the conference. Like most college basketball teams their problems have come away from home as they are 10-2 at home but just 6-8 in home and neutral site games. 

Indiana is the 17th ranked team in the nation and is coming off of a close three-point win over Illinois on Saturday. They were led by their senior big man Trayce Jackson-Davis who put up a ridiculous stat line of 26 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. He actually passed his coach, Mike Woodson, on the Indiana all time scoring list. They are now third in the Big Ten with a 10-6 conference record. They are 19-8 overall and have won four of their last five games. Their only loss was on the road to a ranked Northwestern team by just two points. They are 2.5 games back of first place Purdue in the Big Ten. 

I like the Hoosiers to cover in this one. If you go back you will see that this team beat the Spartans in Indiana 82-69. The Spartans just seem to have no answer for the aforementioned Jackson-Davis. In that game he put up a gaudy statline of 32 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks. The Hoosiers also got 17 points each from Trey Galloway and Tamar Bates. Indiana has covered in seven of their last eleven games and I think they stay hot. They should probably be favored in this game. I know they are on the road but Michigan State just got stomped by Michigan at home and Indiana is probably a better team. Indiana is also playing well right now having won four of five. I do think it is a close game but I think Indiana’s talent advantage shines through and helps them win this game.
