Villanova and Providence will be facing off in this game in a nice Big East matchup between unranked Villanova and 24th ranked Providence. Villanova has not had a great season this season. They are just 13-13 on the season and 7-8 in the conference. Their problem this season, like most NCAA basketball teams, has been on the road. They are 9-3 at home but just a dismal 3-7 on the road. They are playing pretty well lately though as they have won three straight games against DePaul, Seton Haul, and Butler. All three of these games have been at home though and this game will be on the road.
Providence is the 24th ranked team in the nation. They have been much better than Villanova this season. They are 19-7 overall this season and have been very good. They have especially been good within the Big East though, as they are 11-4 within the conference. This puts them at tied for second place in the Big East. They have been one of the best teams in basketball at home this season with a perfect 14-0 record. They are 5-5 on the road this season.
The problem with this matchup is that Villanova has been great as a road underdog this season ATS at 4-1 but Providence has been perfect at home with a 14-0 record. As a home team they also have a great record of 9-5 ATS. I like Providence here though. They have just been so good ATS this season at 16-10 overall. I think this group of four guys in Bryce Hopkins, Devin Carter, Ed Croswell, and Noah Locke who all average over 10 points per game will propel this Providence team to their 15th straight win at home here while they cover.
