A huge showdown in the AFC West gets things started in Week 15 with the 10-3 Los Angeles Chargers going on the road to face the 11-2 Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff from Arrowhead Stadium is set for 8:20 p.m. on NFL Network.
The Chargers started their season with a 38-28 loss to Kansas City as three-point home favorites and they have been able to stay neck-and-neck with their bitter rivals all season long in the AFC West standings. With hopes of a division title still very much alive, they bring a straight-up three-game winning streak in Thursday’s matchup as part of a 9-1 record over their last 10 games. Los Angeles is 7-6 against the spread overall and it has covered BetAnySports’ closing line in five of six road games.
A big part of the Chargers’ success this season has been Philip Rivers throwing the ball to Keenan Allen. The two connected five times for 78 yards and a score in Sunday’s 26-21 victory at home against Cincinnati. Rivers has thrown for 3,638 yards and 29 touchdowns on the year with Allen catching 88 passes for 1,074 yards and six scores.
Kansas City needed overtime to get past Baltimore on Sunday in a tight 27-24 victory as a 6.5-point home favorite. The Chiefs moved to 11-2 SU, but after failing to cover in that game they are 1-4-1 ATS over their last six contests as part of an 8-4-1 record ATS overall. They have covered in half of their six home games this season with the total staying UNDER in four of those six games.
The passing connection between Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill accounted for 139 of Mahomes’ 377 total passing yards against the Ravens’ vaunted defense. On the year, he has completed 74 passes to Hill for 1,258 yards and 11 touchdowns. Kansas City is averaging 318.8 passing yards a game and it is putting up an average of 36.2 points a game on the scoreboard.
I have these two division foes evenly matched heading into Thursday night, so I will take the Chargers to cover with the 3.5 points.
