Current Line: Baylor -5.5 – O/U – 84.5

For Texas Tech, the season has been a nightmare. Before they entered conference play, they had a record of 2-1 with the two wins coming over inferior competition. Once they hit conference play, it immediately became apparent the team was in for a long season. With a conference record of 2-6, the efforts of junior QB Patrick Mahomes II, who ranks #1 in the nation in passing with 404.5 YPG and 35 touchdowns, have been wasted.

At issue has been the lack of a running game and a porous defense that has allowed 44 or more points on 8 different occasions this year. In the tough Big 12 Conference, that just isn’t going to get the job done this season or any other.

It’s been a strange season for the Bears. They started off the season with the same explosive offense fans have grown accustomed to seeing on the way to six straight victories and a ranking inside the top 5. From there, injuries and personnel issues took hold on both sides of the ball, and the wheels simply came off. Over the last 4 games, they have gone 0-4 with the defense giving up a whopping 46.0 PPG. At the same time, the offense has sputtered as the team’s personnel have tried to adapt to more of a ball-control approach with the running game in charge.

Statistically, the offense is ranked #11 in the nation, averaging 520.6 YPG. Unfortunately, the big plays the team became famous for over the past few years have come few and far in between. They may be controlling the game’s tempo, but it isn’t translating to victories. Even more distressing is the Bears’ 2-8 record ATS. That includes the first six games when they were winning. With starting QB Seth Russell out with an injury, the Bears are sure to put most of its focus on running the ball.

Online Sports Betting Game Analysis: Both teams are reeling at this point of the season. The Red Raiders are on the road where they come in with a record of 3-2 ATS. In the last game against Iowa State, they got blown out at home 66-10 as a field home favorite. In any bettor’s book, that qualifies as packing it in for the season. The Bears can only marginally improve its bowl status, but that might be enough to give them an edge ATS. Even with a big question mark at QB, the Bears should be able to run the ball and score enough to win this game by a touchdown in what figures to be a shootout.
