NFL Best Record Odds & Predictions

The odds per BetOnline have come out regarding who will have the best record in the NFL in 2021. Now, the teams at the top of the leaderboard might not surprise you but they might not be the best choice. The team that finished with the best record last season was none other than the Kansas City Chiefs. However, following closely behind them wasn’t the team that met them in the Super Bowl.

This is why you can’t play the favorites all the time, the Green Bay Packers had the second-best record at 13-3. The team that won the Super Bowl had a record of 11-5, much worse than the Chiefs. To help you make a better selection this year, and not just the favorite. We’ll take a look at some teams we think to have the best chance to take the title of “best record”. Keep in mind, some of these teams could change trajectory over the course of the season.

The Favorites: Kansas City & Tampa Bay

It’s probably not surprising that these two are at the top of all the sportsbooks in terms of expected record. Via BetOnline, the Kansas City Chiefs are +300, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are +500. Both teams are viable options as a pick but you also have to take into account the new extended season. Here’s the problem with taking the Chiefs in this bet though. Although it isn’t smart to bet against the Chiefs, they’re in a division with growing talent.

Also, the conference they’re in has some superstar teams, the Buffalo Bills for one, and the Tennessee Titans. Combining that with an extended schedule and the weight of a Super Bowl loss, and the Chiefs aren’t a great bet. Tampa Bay, out of the favorites is a much better bet to make, not only due to the bigger payoff. The Buccaneers are alone in the NFC South with no competition, which guarantees them six wins right there. They made some solid additions over the offseason and out of the two, have a much more generous schedule.

What About #3 The Buffalo Bills

Of the top three teams on the leaderboard, the Bills are perhaps the best bet. They come in with +900 odds, great for a team that finished 2020 with a 13-3 record. Only one loss separated them from the team with the best record. This year, the Bills are out to take down the Chiefs as the leader in the AFC. With the dynamic offense, they already possess, and offseason moves on defense, they’re the team to do it. There’s one other team in the AFC that we’d like to mention though.

The Tennessee Titans have a great schedule this year and perhaps made the most moves to help their team in the offseason. They finished the season at 11-5 , although a few games back from the Chiefs, they have an upside. Teams still haven’t figured out a way to stop RB Derrick Henry, and their passing attack just got another weapon in Julio Jones. At +2300, the Titans could win big in 2021.

Our Pick: Buffalo Bills +900

The Bills are a team on the fast track to a Super Bowl title. They’ve made leaps in progression over the last few seasons and only narrowly lost the title last year. The team has a huge upside with players getting to know each other in the offseason better. They’re also in a less competitive division than the Chiefs, which helps them tremendously. If you don’t want to take the Bills and stick to a team closer to the favorite, go with Tampa Bay. The Buccanneers showed some offensive talent last year and claimed the most prized award there is a Super Bowl victory.
