The featured Week 2 preseason matchup on CBS this Sunday at 4 p.m. is an inter-conference clash between the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Chargers out on the West Coast.

Saints at Chargers Game Overview

The Saints got their preseason schedule started last Friday with a 34-25 loss at home against Minnesota closing as three-point favorites with BetAnySports. In one of the higher scoring games in Week 1, the total easily went OVER 37.5 points. New Orleans beat the Chargers 36-7 last preseason as a one-point road favorites. It went 3-1 both straight-up and against the spread in the preseason last year.

Veteran quarterback Drew Brees watched last week’s game from the sidelines, but he should get a chance to run the first team offense on Sunday for the first few series. In his place, Teddy Bridgewater looked to firm up the backup position by completing 14-of-19 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown throw. Taysom Hill looked sharp running the ball with 45 yards rushing on six carries. Alvin Kamara ran the ball four times for 11 yards in limited action.

Los Angeles was on the road against Arizona for its first preseason game as a three-point underdog and it came up just short in a 17-13 loss. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing 38-point line. Last preseason’s loss to the Saints was part of an even 2-2 mark in four exhibition games (SU and ATS) with the total going OVER in three of those games. The Chargers’ season came to an end with a 41-28 road loss to New England as four-point underdogs in the playoffs.

Philip Rivers is another long-time vet looking to get his team to the Super Bowl this season as one of the top favorites in the AFC. He was also sidelined in Week 1 in favor of Tyrod Taylor, who is also trying secure the backup quarterback spot. Taylor went a perfect 6-for-6 throwing the ball for 72 yards. He also added 34 yards on the ground, including one scramble for 23 yards. Easton Stick added 51 yards rushing and a score on just two attempts.

This one should be fun to watch when the starters are on the field. Overall, I would still go with the OVER with each team’s offense having a higher level of success in this game.
