This Sunday’s late-afternoon NFL schedule starts with a AFC West clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. Game time from the StubHub Center is set for 4:05 p.m.

Kansas City at Los Angeles Game Overview

The Chiefs have laid claim to the last two AFC West Division titles, but BetAnySports has them listed as +300 second-favorites to make it three in-a-row. They went 10-6 straight-up and against the spread last season with the total staying UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in seven of their last nine games. Kansas City has a projected win total of 8.5 with the betting odds favoring the UNDER at -150.

Head coach Andy Reid has turned over the keys to the Chiefs’ offense to second-year quarterback Patrick Mahones. He also has Chad Henne on the roster as his backup. As far as some of the other skill players on this of the ball, Kareem Hunt should carry the load in the run game and Tyreek Hill remains the most dangerous weapon catching the ball.

The Chargers made the move to Los Angeles last season and they rewarded their new fan base with their first winning record since 2014 at 9-7. BetAnySports has Los Angeles listed as +140 favorite to win the division title in 2018. It ended last season with six SU wins in its last seven games with a profitable 9-3 record ATS over the last 12 contests. The total stayed UNDER in 13 of the Chargers’ 16 games.

Philip Rivers returns for his 15thseason in the league after throwing for 4,515 yards and 28 touchdowns last year. His top target in the passing game is Keenan Allen, who caught 102 balls for 1,393 yards and six touchdowns. Melvin Gordon added another 1,105 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. The Chargers ended last season ranked third in the NFL in points allowed (17.0) and they used to first four draft picks to add even more depth to this side of the ball.

I happen to agree that there will be a changing of the guard in the AFC West this season with Kansas City taking a step backwards. The first step comes this Sunday in a loss (SU and ATS) against the Chargers.
