CJ Stroud Heisman Trophy Odds

The Heisman Trophy is the most coveted individual award you can win in College Football. The odds each year come out with favorites and longshots. This year, CJ Stroud has the fourth-best odds per BetOnline to win the Heisman Trophy. He’s against a lot of tough competition though so what are his chances of separating himself from the group?

It’s not as simple as having a good statistical year, winning is the most important part. Luckily for Stroud, he’s at a great school, Ohio State. Ohio State had a great season last year but lost the National Championship. They were lead by Justin Fields, who Stroud has had the opportunity to learn from. The question now is whether he’ll only be a shadow of what Fields was or can he surpass him in 2021. We’re here for you to review the Heisman candidates for 2021, and today we’ll cover CJ Stroud.

What We Know About CJ Stroud

CJ Stroud is essentially what we would call a “dark horse” for the Heisman Trophy. You see, currently, CJ Stroud’s Heisman odds linger around +1000, the fourth-best odds. In front of him are some more proven and experienced quarterbacks. The word is though, coming out of some QB camps, that Stroud has increased his arm strength. This is a good sign for him considering that was a knock on him before.

Our issue with Stroud is that he’s spent an entire year not consistently stepping on the field. When thinking about him going out as the full-time starter for the first time in 2021, the Heisman winner isn’t our thought. He’ll likely be the starter, sure, but there’s still some quarterback competition going on in camp.

What About His Competition?

Per BetOnline, CJ Stroud will have a long ladder to climb in order to claim a Heisman trophy. There are three players in front of him that are likely more convincing to win the trophy, along with a National Championship. That isn’t to say Stroud can’t claim the trophy, just that it will take a lot of convincing for him to beat out the other guys.

For starters, there’s Bryce Young, the dual-threat quarterback of Alabama. For those of you that forgot, Alabama beat Ohio State to a pulp in the National Championship. Mac Jones, who was Alabama’s starter and Bryce Young’s mentor threw for 464 yards and 5 touchdowns. Alabama is a passing football team, and Bryce Young is a perfect fit for the offense.

Our Thoughts On CJ Stroud

When it comes to the Heisman trophy candidates in 2021, Stroud doesn’t make our list of winners. The competition is too heavy, especially with Spencer Rattler in the mix. Stroud is only so high up in the odds because these are preseason Heisman odds for 2021. Once the season starts, we expect the Stroud stock to plummet.

If you’re hoping to pick a player to win the Heisman trophy and you don’t care about the money you’ll lose, take Stroud. The odds are great at +1000, but you likely won’t see any winnings. There’s just too much competition for Stroud to cut through this year.

OSB Official Pick: NO to CJ Stroud +1000 to win the 2021 College Football Heisman Trophy

Detroit was expected to be amongst the worst teams in baseball at the All-Star Break. The team is not good, and they will finish below .500. Although, they are in third place in the American League Central. Jonathan Schoop has been the do-all for Detroit as Cruz has been for Minnesota. Schoop is batting .274/.321/.473 with 16 HR and 49 RBI. I credit A.J. Hinch for the team’s surprising competitiveness in 2021. Detroit may have a record well below .500, but they are very competitive. They force opponents to earn wins, and this will translate to pennants in the future as young players become more experienced.
