The featured Big 12 matchup as part of ESPN’s Big Mondays pits the TCU Horned Frogs on the road against the No. 14 Texas Tech Red Raiders at 9 p.m.
TCU is coming off back-to-back wins at home against Texas and Florida. It beat the Gators 55-50 on Saturday as a 3.5-point favorite in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ 134.5-point closing line in that win and it has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in five of its last six games. The Horned Frogs are 15-4 straight-up this season with a 12-7 record against the spread. They are 1-2 ATS closing as underdogs.
Kouat Noi put up a game-high 22 points in Saturday’s win as part of a lineup that is five deep in double-digit scorers. Desmond Bane remains TCU’s top scorer with 15 points per game and he added 17 points in that win. The Horned Frogs are averaging 77 points a game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range
Texas Tech is 4-3 SU in Big 12 play after losing its last three conference games. It snapped the three-game skid on Saturday with a 67-64 victory against the SEC’s Arkansas Razorbacks. The Red Raiders failed to cover as 10-point home favorites in that game to fall to a costly 1-8-1 ATS over their last 10 contests. The total has stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in four of their last six games.
A strong effort by Davide Moretti with 21 points and Jarrett Culver with 15 points helped Texas Tech get past the Razorbacks on Saturday. Culver leads the team in scoring with an average of 18.5 PPG while also pulling down a team-high 6.9 rebounds. Moretti along with Matt Mooney are the only other two team members averaging at least 10 PPG. The Red Raiders, as a team, are scoring 70 PPG.
Each team’s current form points to a possible SU road upset. At the very least, you definitely cannot count on Texas Tech to cover as a home favorite. The ‘best bet’ in this Big 12 clash is the UNDER on the total line.
