Ok, let’s get to our Jets vs. New England prediction.

In Jets vs Patriots history, there have been some crazy games between these two AFC East rivals who simply do not like each other, going back all the way to the days over two decades ago when Bill Belichick abruptly resigned as Jets head coach to come to New England.

More recently, New England has won the last five meetings, but has only covered three of those games and in the last 8 meetings in the Meadowlands the Jets have managed to go 6-2 against the spread.

This game has been one of the biggest movers from the opening lines as last week at this time the Pats were a 3.5 point favorite, so even though New England got upset at home by Miami in Week 1, the market has moved this game three points.

There are a couple reasons for this move. First, despite the loss to Miami, the Patriots outplayed the Dolphins in that game and rookie QB Mac Jones looked poised and comfortable in his first start. New England has also always been a great bet the week after a loss under Belichick and this week Bill gets to face a rookie QB in the Jets Zach Wilson and he has covered the spread in 65% of his games against rookie or second-year starting QBS.

On top of all of that, the Jets lost their best offensive lineman to an injury last week, so they are dealing with a reshuffled offensive line. Put it all together and it looks like New England should be the side to bet on today, but we always talk about value here on our videos and we really think the value on the Pats is gone here now that we have to lay 6 or even 6.5 points in some spots. So, we’re going to attack this game a little differently and play under 21.5 points in the first half.

We already explained why we think it’s going to be difficult for the Jets to score points in this game and for New England, we expect Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to have a very basic and simple offensive game plan, especially in the first half, as they send out their rookie QB in his first road start.

Look for New England to play great defense and stuff the Jets offense, and when they have the ball look for them to rely heavily on their strong running game and short passes, which will keep the clock moving and lead to a low scoring first half.
