NFL Week 17 Preview and Pick

New York Giants at Washington Redskins

VietBet Game Line: Washington 7.5

VietBet Total Line: 44

The 10-5 New York Giants will close out their regular season schedule with a road trip to FedEx Field this Sunday to face the NFC East rival 8-6-1 Washington Redskins. Game time on New Year’s Day is set for 4:25 p.m. (ET) and this key division tilt will be broadcast nationally on FOX.

New York at Washington Game Preview

The Giants have already claimed one of two wild card playoff spots in the NFC and they will be trying to keep their rivals from doing the same. New York is 8-2 straight-up in its last 10 games while going a profitable 7-3 against the spread at VietBet, but there has to be some concern with last week’s 24-19 loss to Philadelphia as a 2.5-point favorite on the road. The total went OVER 42.5 points in that game after staying UNDER in its last six contests.

Eli Manning put the ball up 63 times against the Eagles and while he completed 38 passes for 356 yards, he was also responsible for three costly interceptions that had an impact on the outcome of that game. On the year, the Giants are averaging just 19.4 points a game, which is ranked 25th in the NFL. Defensively, it has been a whole other story with a points-allowed average of 18.3.

Washington rolled over Chicago this past Sunday 41-21 as a three-point road favorite with VietBet, but it still needs a win this Sunday and get some help to make a return trip to the playoffs after winning the NFC East last year. The Redskins are just 2-3 SU in their last five games, but they improve to 6-2 ATS in their last eight outings. The total has gone OVER in seven of their last eight games.

The one good sign against the Bears was a potent ground game that churned out 208 rushing yards on 35 carries as opposed to a season average of 110.5 yards a game. Kirk Cousins had another productive day throwing the ball with 270 yards and a score while completing 18-of-29 passing attempts. Washington’s offense is ranked second in the league in passing yards with an average of 300.8 a game.

New York at Washington Free Game Pick

The Giants have little to play for while Washington’s whole season is on the line. However, I am still going to take the 7.5 points with VietBet that New York finds a way to keep things close enough to cover against their bitter rivals.
