New Orleans at Tampa By Game Preview
New Orleans has fallen off the pace in the division title race with just one straight-up win in its last four games. After failing to cover as a 6.5-point home favorite in Sunday’s 28-13 loss to Detroit, it is now 1-2-1 ATS during this current slide. The total stayed UNDER VietBet’s closing 53.5-point line in that loss and it has stayed UNDER in five of the Saints’ last seven games. New Orleans heads back on the road this week where it has gone a very profitable 4-0-1 ATS this season. It is 5-0-1 ATS when closing as an underdog.
The Saints are still the top-ranked team in the NFL in both passing yards (319.4) and total yards (428.7) a game behind the throwing arm of veteran quarterback Drew Brees. However, this offense struggled against Detroit with 369 total yards. Brees still threw for 326 yards on his way to completing 31-of-44 attempts, but he was picked off three times while failing to throw a touchdown pass.
Tampa Bay extended its current winning streak to four games both SU and ATS with Sunday’s 28-21 road win against San Diego as a three-point underdog. The total ended as a PUSH on VietBet’s closing line after staying UNDER in recent victories against Seattle at home and Kansas City on the road. The Buccaneers are also 7-5 ATS, but when it comes to playing at home their record ATS falls to 2-4.
Second-year quarterback Jameis Winston has been able to elevate his game during this current run and he completed 20-of-30 passing attempts to nine different players for 280 yards in this past Sunday’s win. Tampa Bay is ranked 12th in the NFL in yards per game (362.2) and Winston is averaging 257.3 yards a game through the air. The Bucs’ defense did a great job containing Chargers’ quarterback Philip Rivers to just 225 yards passing, but it did give up a 119 yards on the ground.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay Free Game Pick
The Saints have been able to dominate this NFC South rivalry for the past few seasons with a SU 8-1 record in the last nine meetings. They have won six of their last seven road games against Tampa Bay so I will take the three points at VietBet and go with New Orleans as my “best bet” pick.
